Simple Khichdi for babies


Simple Khichdi, one of the simple and complete meals for growing babies.It is good one-pot recipe combination of carbohydrates and protein.

Easy, quick, one pot wholesome anytime comforting meal made with the pressure cooker.It is nutritious not only for babies but also when an adult is sick.It is easy for digestion.

We can make a variety of Khichdi by adding many vegetables to it like tomato, green peas, carrot, onion and little spices.

Homemade Simple khichadi is a very healthy option for growing babies with carbohydrates and proteins.




Prep Time:10 minutes

Ingredients
1/2 cup rice
1/4 cup moon dal
1 tsp hing
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp ghee
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp salt
coriander leaves to garnish

Method
1.Heat a pressure cooker with ghee.
2. Add hing and cumin seeds. Let it crackle.
3.Then add washed rice and washed moong dal. Saute them nicely for few seconds.
4.Add turmeric powder and salt.
5.Add 1 1/2 cup of water and close the lid.
6.Pressure cook this for 3-4 whistles, till everything is well- cooked.
7.Mash khichdi lightly with a spoon.Serve it with a little ghee and coriander leaves on top.

Carrot Khichdi


Khichdi recipe for babies - it is very healthy and nourishing food for babies.It is a good combination of lentils and dal with vegetable.

Vegetable like carrot, Spinach, green peas, tomato can be added to this khichdi to make another flavor rice.It also helps in digestion of lentils in babies.

If your baby is 6-9 months, you can mash this khichdi and then feed.For toddler age or more grown baby, they can have khichdi in normal cooked texture.

It is better to have less dal to avoid acid reflux in babies.

4 tbsp rice
1 tbsp moong dal
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp Hing/asafetida
2 tbsp finely chopped carrot cubes
1 tsp ghee/butter

Method
1.Heat ghee in a pressure cooker.
2.Add cumin seeds and asafetida.
3.Add carrot cubes, rice, and moong dal.
4.Add 1 cup water and a little salt.
5.Cook Khichdi till 3 whistles and serve lukewarm

Jowar Porridge



Jowar flour is very nutritious for babies as well as kids.For growing babies , it is good for increasing appetite.

It contains lots of nutrients and fiber and protein.This porridge can be made with jaggery or with dates.

Sorghum or Jowar is very good for baby food.It is rich in carbohydrates, fiber, and iron.It is very good gluten-free flour.

Ingredients
1/4 cup jowar (white millet) flour
1 tsp ghee
1 tbsp jaggery

Method
1.Heat the ghee in a broad non-stick pan, add the jowar flour and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
2.Add 1 cup of water, mix well using a whisk and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring continuously.
3.Serve lukewarm.
